Women Empowerment
Transforming the Lives of Women
Dream Africa Women Empowerment programme is focused on awareness raising, capacity building and networking activities to build effective cooperation between the relevant stakeholders to advance gender equality and women’s rights in Ghana. We have transformed thousands of lives through evidence-based programs that focus on expanding women’s economic opportunities, increasing women’s rights and security, and advancing women’s political participation.
Dream Africa’s programme are tailored at empowering women by promoting a common understanding and unanimous condemnation of all forms of discrimination against women and girls within four projects:
Economic Empowerment
Economic empowerment is central to women’s ability to overcome poverty, cope with shocks and improve their well-being. DAVS provides training on basic business skills, linkages to market-based job opportunities and access to start-up capital through revolving fund, banks or micro-finance institutions.
Increasing women’s rights and security
We work with individuals and communities to change norms that perpetuate gender-based violence and the exploitation of women and girls. We engage government and civil society to strengthen laws, legal systems, and other response mechanisms to increase access to justice and improve service delivery.
Promoting women’s participation in political and public life
Lack of civic knowledge among women has worsened their participation and representation in decision-making, election and governance.. We empower women to engage in political processes, and equip women to be informed voters, active members of political parties, and successful candidates.
Gender Equality
Empowering women and promoting gender equality is crucial to accelerating sustainable development. Taking the necessary measures to end all forms of discrimination against women and girls is not only a basic human right, but it also has a multiplier effect across all other development areas. Dream Africa diversity and equality project is addressing the intersectional forms of discrimination against women and girls to promote the cultural and identity diversity of women.
