Dream Africa has implemented the Skills Development and Livelihood Empowerment Program in five (5) districts of the Volta region, aimed at providing practical skills training to individuals in need, empowering them to achieve financial stability and self-reliance. The program focused on marginalized groups, including unemployed youth, women, and vulnerable populations, enabling them to acquire marketable skills, create income-generating activities, and build sustainable livelihoods. Through this initiative, participants have gained the confidence and ability to take charge of their lives with dignity and determination.
The program provided training in various vocational skills, including tailoring, carpentry, hairdressing, soap-making, and digital literacy. A total of 568 individuals participated in the training sessions, with a 70% female representation, addressing gender disparities in economic opportunities. The curriculum was tailored to meet the demands of the local job market, ensuring that the skills acquired were relevant and in high demand.
In addition to vocational training, participants received start-up kits entrepreneurial education, covering topics such as business management, financial literacy, marketing, and customer service. This training equipped them with the necessary tools to start and manage their own businesses successfully. The program also included mentorship from local entrepreneurs, providing participants with real-world insights and guidance as they began their entrepreneurial journeys.
By providing practical skills training and fostering entrepreneurial spirit, the program has enabled individuals to take control of their lives with dignity and determination. The success of the initiative has not only improved the livelihoods of participants but also contributed to the broader economic and social development of their communities.
